Jean met Bob Akers in Knoxville where they both worked for the Burroughs Corporation. She was born in Peru, Indiana on June 13,1921 to Mary Blinn Tapscott and Manford Simms and grew up in Indianapolis. Jean Simms Akers died on Februin Newport Beach, California.
